Wednesday Words of Wisdom – Social Media

I developed a branding system for our weekly "Wednesday Words of Wisdom" posts on Family Circle's Pinterest, Facebook, and Instagram pages. The system gave these posts consistency and cohesion, yet still provided enough variation and flexibility for playfulness in color, type, and composition.

The magazine's 2016 redesign called for a re-evaluation of the look and feel of social media posts. I watched metrics closely to determine which content and visuals followers most engaged with and made thoughtful adjustments with that data.

Design Consistency and Flexibility

Prior to the magazine redesign, I developed a template system for our weekly "Wednesday Words of Wisdom" posts across, Pinterest, Facebook, and Instagram.

My solution gave these posts consistency and cohesion, yet still provided enough flexibility for playfulness in color, type, and composition.

Understanding the Audience Through Data Analysis

The Family Circle Social Media audience engaged most with long-time established figures like Eleanor Roosevelt. Still, we experimented with quotes from various public figures, ranging from Mindy Kaling to Malala Yousafzai as we tried to understand and shift our audience to millennial moms. See the GIFS I designed for additional examples of how our team experimented with new trends and content.
